"Make my bed and light the light, I'll be home late tonight,
Blackbird, bye-bye."
This is a great song with which to end an evening. Patrons know the chorus and will sing along (well, at least when they are in a bar) and it can be played really uptempo and swinging - even though the words belie mirth, really.
LYRICS
Pack up all my cares and woe
Here I go, singin' low
Bye bye blackbird
Where somebody waits for me
Sugar's sweet, so is he
Bye bye blackbird
No one here can love or understand me
Oh what hard luck stories they all hand me
Make my bed and light the light
I'll be home late tonight
Blackbird, bye bye
Make my bed and light the light
I'll arrive late tonight
Blackbird, bye bye
